Jet CD marks Puffy's ascent into pan-Asian pop stardom. Its first cut, "Jet Keisatsu," takes off with a blast from the past by quoting the Who. Like so many of Puffy's successful songs, what at once elicits images of a specific classic rock anthem quickly banks into a brand new song all its own. Mellifluous and harmonizing, Ami Onuki and Yumi Yoshimura are protean singers who switch vocal styles almost as quickly as fashion sensibilities. Whether it's the blues-based "Lemon Kid," the timpani-pounding "Ai No Shirushi," or songs sung in Mandarin, Onuki and Yoshimura effortlessly wrap the musically familiar and unfamiliar into celestially charged über-pop. - John Vallier for allmusic
