“PIX” is the brand new EP from Polish trio Lotto. It consists of four new tracks, recorded in 2018 in Berlin....
“This time we didn’t record in a regular studio as we usually do,” says guitarist Łukasz Rychlicki. “Instead, we used fragments and samples of earlier recordings, and produced new music by deconstructing and manipulating these sounds. We also set aside our main instruments and made use of electronic ones,” he adds.
The trio insist that “PIX” shouldn’t be perceived as a one-time departure for the band. “We simply wanted to make new music using different methods. We’ve always been excited by the search for new means and ways to express ourselves,” says Rychlicki. “It’s important for us to try different routes.”
Lotto are known for their amazing live performances where the band usually plays new, unrecorded music. “We feel it’s a way to challenge ourselves. We don’t want our music to become too safe and comfortable for us. During our concerts, songs evolve, often in unpredictable ways. We like to make use of this experience also during our studio work,” he explains.
